I’m a Post Graduate in M.Sc. (International Business and Management) from The University of Manchester, in the UK, and a Graduate in B.E. (Computer Science) from Visvesvaraya Technological University, in India.
I started working as an IT professional, soon after completing my graduation in June ’06. Formally, trained as a C# and .Net developer, I was soon moved in to Software Testing as deemed necessary by the organisation at the time. Since then, I have worked on multiple projects, experienced different technologies, and domains.
Reflecting back on my initial working days, I did not had a choice of being a developer, or a tester. Frankly, I was too naive to be knowing the industry standards, or the kind of work which would have suited me. That didn’t stop me from learning on the job, from peers, and seniors. This eagerness to learn and grow saw me working as a tester, a lead, a business analyst, a project coordinator, and most importantly the go to person for project I was responsible.
It’s one thing to be working on something, and another when you are consulted for every thing about the work you do.
Apart from the responsibilities imparted by my professional role, I’ve been an independent business consultant, and have worked as a head of operation/product manager (although, for a short duration). Also, I have mentored people on marketing, and research projects.
That sense of involvement, being knowledgeable about things, interacting with clients, guiding the team to deliver, and more importantly making an impact on the business and growth of the organisation drove me to want to be a consultant. This is something which I want to pursue further; interacting with clients, understand the area where impact can be made, generate business, and getting it implemented.
